Hidden Paintings, 2013 - 16

mixed media paintings

Part of an ongoing collaborative project with Thomas Willis and myself, which consisted of a series of site-specific paintings made directly on the gallery walls, ceilings, and floors. Absent of wall labels, the locations of the works were intended to become partially absorbed by the architecture of the gallery. Without directing the experience of how one was to view the works, visitors were invited to experience the paintings by closely examining every surface in an attempt to decipher a work of art from existing marks, surface imperfections, or any other phenomena of the space.
